ok, i have a 59 rag, i ordered a steering wheel and also an adapter, the adapter was suppose to fit from 59-67, when i received it the splines are fine, mine are coarse. So i found a steering shaft from a 61 with the fine splines. woohoo, now my issue is that the wiring if all different and the column is different. what can i do desides changing out the column and getting a different turn signal post and so on. I had my column chromed and want to use the new shaft with my old column, I need help. Can the shaft be milled to the fine threads? am i effed? Sad

1959 was the last year of that Wheel, Shaft and Column, Turn Signal in USA Models. I can't believe somebody sold you an adapter for 59' - 67'? The new style Shaft and everything that goes with it Started in 1960. Pre 1960 they did have two types of Steering Wheels a Course Spline and then a Fine Spline to be able to adjust your Steering Wheel better. So are you saying you have the 1959 Steering Shaft and Column and then Bought an adapter to fit your new Wheel? Pictures would Help

i have the 59 coarse shaft and column that came with the car, i ordered the adapter and it came fine threads, so i found a fine threaded shaft and bought it not knowing that everything on it changed. So now i have the fine threaded shaft and the adapter to fit it but my 59 things will not fit it. I dont want to change my chromed colum and turn signal assembly, is there a way to have the coarse spline resplined to fine or am i just trying to pull magic from my ass???

What if you exchanged the adaptor for the correct one?
