I know this has been covered so many times before but I can't seem to find it for some reason. I am betting the tube inside the tunnel has broken loose, I installed a new clutch kit and found out later the previous owner has installed 3 kits in this car in the past 2 years. Upon removing the engine I noticed added spacers before the wing nut adjuster. The pedal doesn't seem to move the clutch lever on the trans enough to allow me to put it in gear. Any more adjustment to the cable and the throwout bearing will be riding against the pressure plate. Anyone have the measurements on were to cut the tunnel to check the tube and reweld it if needed? The pedal in mine seems much higher and feels correct, any insight would be great she really wants to drive it to a show this weekend. |

Have you taken the clutch cable out and looked at it?
is there a sufficient bend in the Bowden tube?
has the cable come loose from the pedal assy?
when you push the clutch in, how far does the cable move/pull the arm on the transmission?
I am not sure where to cut....hopefully someone else can chime in on that.... |

Figure out this stuff and when you remove the pedal assembly check to see if the clutch tube is loose with your finger.
The BugShop did a write up on it that will help:

This thread discusses cutting the tunnel as well,

Good luck!

Update on this problem, I know it's been a while. Tube was broken in the tunnel, rewelded it in the front and made a brace in the center. Works like a champ! |
