My fridge arrived today. I ended up with the AC/DC version because I wanted the flexibility. Pricing is going up this month on all models of Truck Fridge as well as the Vitrifrigo according to Andrew.

Packaging was excellent, double boxed. No damage.

It's been plugged in to AC for about an hour and is nice and cold. Surface frost in the freezer. Otter Pops this summer. COOL!

Here is the #1 thing I'm not sure I like. Looking at other versions of this fridge I expected a latch to hold the door shut. This unit has a metal piece that you slide a pin through and in to the door to keep it shut while traveling. When the pin is out the door shuts via suction. I might end up being o.k. with this but for now I wish I had the regular latch.

The 120mm fan that draws air over the coil is fairly quiet but I'm going to do some research on possibly replacing it with a more quiet fan.

Does ayone know of the TruckFridge version has the same system or a real latch?

I'm in the backorder list for a TF

My VF has the same pin to secure it closed, you can drive around without it, but you have to drive pretty careful for it to not swing open.

My Isotherm CR49 has no such pin latch and stayed closed during a recent bouncy 4WD trip to Death Valley.

Thanks Jeff,

I've been looking at the Isotherm too. I like the ASU option, it is ideal for our westies but pricey. Also, I think the Isotherm CR49 does not have the 110v option although you can buy and install a converter that is sold by the same dealer.

I found mine on ePay --- it was non-ASU and 12V only and it works really well. I had no need for the 110V plug in option since I almost never camp in campgrounds and my 30 AMP onboard charger plugs the whole van in so no need for shore power.

I'll get photos up next week when I get back in town. I'm planning on cutting a new face frame and covering it with hopefully a similar tan material as my cabinets. I'm also debating whether to paint the mounting trim brown to match the cabinet trim. I'm funny that way. Laughing

Does anyone know of a good material (other than GoWesty) that matches the tan cabinets to cover a face frame.

Thanks

Scott

What is an ASU option?

Check out www.truckfridge.com.. they don't identify it but think it's the Isotherm that they sell....$475-$499 depending on size.
