RAL 1013 (Oyster White) Powder Coating

I purchased some new wheels and had them powder coated. I know sometimes it can be tough to choose a powder coat color (they don't always match the color samples in the books) so I wanted to post what I used to hopefully help someone out.

Remove the powdercoat from the recess and roughen where the lug nuts seat...unless you want to chase a wheel or two down the road.

Yes, I've heard stories. Wouldn't that only be if you don't check the torque a few times during the first 100 miles?

I know you will definitely have issues if the shop applies the powder too thick. There are thousands of wheels out there that are powder coated even from the dealership on new cars, we would have wheels rolling around everywhere if it was a common issue. Just need to check the torque a few times until it holds a torque.

I just spoke to the shop that did the powder coating, most of their work are wheels and they said they never had any issues. They said shops that are not prepping correctly or applying the coating too thick can cause the coating to crack and cause issues.

John is correct mask the lug holes or u will be sorry... I powdercoat mask them .. I like the color ..
