Another question: are all 63's 1200 CC or was there an option for a 1300?
edit: based on this: http://books.google.com/books?id=Oo1S_GwV4JAC&...p;resnum=8
my engine number suggests a 1300.
So will a 1300 exhaust from "66 and newer" fit in a 63 1300?
Sorry for all the questions |

What's your engine #? Sounds like you have a later engine in yours.

All the 63's came new with a 1200 40 horse, but it's been 46 years. A lot can be changed and upgraded during that time.
Post up some pictures of your engine and it should be obvious if you have a 1200 that this won't fit, or a newer bigger engine that it will fit. _________________ Mother Nature is a Mean Evil Bitch! |

Ok, The exhaust Didnt fit.. which leads me to believe it is 1200cc motor.
I am off about half an inch on each side to bolt up.
After running around to Bugformance, there are no exhausts that utilize the factory exhaust position (2 tips).
My new question is : Can ihave a machine shop cut 1/2 inch out of each side of the header piping so it bolts up?

You've got a 40 hp there. Not all 63's came with 40 hp. The 36 hp was used until August of 65 in 1200A's (Standards). The 1300 was first used in the 66 model run for the deluxe. For the 1200A(standard) in 1966 the new engine was the 40 hp for the first time. The last Beetle produced in Germany (Jan 1978) was a 1200A (standard) with a 40 hp.
