Hey guys

Need a little input here. Got a buggy running a 2332 with a stock three rib bus tranny. Turns about 4000 rpm when going down the highway. Also running 33" tires. What I want to do is put a type 1 tranny back in it geared to give about 2700 in fourth on the freeway. What do ya'll recommend and will the starter and axles interchange? Any other things I should know?

Thanks in advance.

Sure... you can take a grinder to them. You can also use an adjustable wrench to assemble it.

Guess that would have helped. 70mph and tach reads about 4000. 3 rib aka002 and best I can tell it has the 5.38 R&P in it and a .82 fourth. Anybody got an idea as to what it would cost to have a new R&P installed? Debating on either going to a type 1 freeway flyer for highway or replacing the R&P with a different on. MOstly drive on the street but occasionally take it to the dunes. AS it is I can climb in second gear without any problems. Do ya'll think it would be a problem if I were to change the R&P? In other words how much do you think it would affect the ratio overall for 1st and 2nd?

I will also give them a call on monday.

Thanks

You can change the trans from the 5.38 you have now to a 4.96 or pull the 002 and install an 091 with a 4.57 rig and pinion. 4th gear can also be changed from the stock .82 to a .70 or .77 Weddle gear. Out this ratios in one of the many gear calculators in the internet with the height of your rear tire and you see the effect. Hope that helps! Don
