Intermittent wiper is... intermittent

I have intermittent wipers, and they do - sometimes - work.

However, I have found if I move the lever down into that mode, then hold gentle pressure on the arm, they work reliably.

Something with the switch in the steering pedestal?

Yes, seems lilely. Remove the steering wheel so you can access the switch.
DO NOT disassemble the switch assembly (especially the white part), it is impossible to put back together. I mean, it is maybe physically possible, but you see my point.
Clean the tracks, assemble back together and voila.

spray the switch innards with Caig Labs DeOxit. safe on plastics and a magic contact cleaner.
