Kolbies are real good, but i always opt for NOS brazilian at a cheaper price. while cofap makes shit for dampers and shocks, they used to make a very high quality P/C set- the pistons even carried the KS logo on the inside Shocked heres an ad i found for that very item:

assuming your engine is running cool, oil choice and cleanliness is the main determinant of piston life. i have personally run the old cofap 80K without even wiping out the machine tool marks (changing Kendall 20W oil every 2500 mi.) you should spend some of the extra 300 on several cases of brad penn 10W-30 IMO. this would make more difference than the Kolbies would.

Kolbenshmidt still make type 4 cylinders and pistons

(EDITED OUT CRAP LINK)

Kolbenshmidt bearings are still being made also

Sometimes parts in europe are easier to get hold of.... sometimes, but not very often Very Happy

Suggestion:

Here is where you can find the Mahle P&C:

Or these:

I would think that either of those would work well in a pretty much stock rebuild as you are likley only to see <5000 RPMs on this engine. All buses need the dished pistons. I would suggest that you get them balanced to a couple of grams or less while you are doing it so that they are all about the same mass.
