Hi, I just saw the other post about light bar brackets and discovered these VanagonLife guys have an interesting steel center console. Anyone running this unit yet?
http://www.vanagonlife.com/theshop/locking-steel-center-console

Also, I have the Rhino console up front at the shifter. I'm wondering if I'd be able to also run this console for the "ultimate storage solution" lol.

Anyway, any feedback/experience with this unit?

There are a few threads on the console here. Everyone that has one speaks very highly of it. On their Instagram page they show a Vanagon parked on top of the unit... it's solid!

I don't personally have one yet but it's on my wish list.

Very nice !!! I'd be tempted to get one if it was about 4 inches high (easy to step over). And made in the Pacific Northwest too!

Oh! I did a search for both VanagonLife and then console, but nothing turned up.

If it was not as long , it would be much easier also, so it's not a drop to the cargo floor.

Looks pretty tight at the E-Brake lever. Maybe it works but to me it doesn't show enough clearance to wrap your hand around the handle to operate correctly. Nice idea but I've already purchased the RMW locking drawers for under each front seat.
My wife has to run back to help our boys from time to time when traveling. This would be a difficult obstacle for her to navigate over.

Its one of the best upgrades to my interior.

I highly recommend this center console from Vanagonlife via Instagram. He Is a great guy to boot!

Every detail is executed nicely. A few highlights: Massive storage, bombproof construction, multiple 12 volt partitions, locking flush mount latch, cup holders, map and book storage, internal map pkts, table leg holder, latch point for fridge, extremely easy installation, etc. Best part is that it has an easy mounting solution to install a M series Blue Seas kill switch for a quick access ability to stop any potential electrical fire as well as use of a true kill switch for theft prevention. It also is designed with an electrical conduit guard to run wires between Aux and Main battery.

I highly recommend this storage solution for you Vanagon owners out there.

I have one as well, at 6'2" I find zero issue getting into the back from driver seat. What I like best is the battery kill switch provision, nothing like making the van theft proof for peace of mind.

My Syncro has the tunnel running down the center. If mounted, the console would be an inch or two higher. The guy says that he's working on a more shallow console with my van in mind, but he hasn't started on it yet. He told me he's doing work on a 400 acre property and is super busy. These consoles are nearly bomb proof and rock solid. I'll have to e-mail him again and see what's up.

I gotta chime in here....

The VL console is an absolute engineered work of art, easily one of the best purchases for your van. Its like have a vault between your seats and as mentioned above the blue seas kill switch takes care of any would be theives. Sure the little drawers you can buy for under the front seats are nice but not even in the same category as the VL console, and a combination lock?? Seriosly how the hell you gonna pull your pistol from that while seated... yeh not gonna happen.
Also the features built into the console are so well thought out, I personally feel the console in under priced for what your getting. Ask anybody that has one and they will rave about it or any of the Vanagonlife products. If you don't have a console get one.

My van is a factory diesel that had the tunnel, I ditched the tunnel and grabbed a console.

Do you step over the console or onto it when getting back? I can't imagine how it wouldn't pose an obstacle..

Either.... I step over it, wife steps on it. The pros heavily outweigh the cons.

Cool. I've been looking at these. I'll have to imagine it's there and practice stepping over it to see what it's like:)

You could put a plastic tub there and pretend it's bolted down then decide if it's in the way. Not lockable, no power outlets etc etc, but if you can evaluate the part of stepping over it.

Or make a wooden box with a similar lid that you can step on it, and use it in the same way, put the stuff you need in it, etc, then you'll know.
