Show us your dollies.....(I know there a few in the bus hunting thread but I'm not going to search the 100's of pages for them, I also didn't want to highjack the Rotisserie thread )

| Nice work! I'm curious what weight capacity per wheel is required. I'd like to build a single wheel dolly that attaches to the frame horns in the rear and use an old tranny as a roller in the front. Or maybe the single in the back and one dolly for each side in the front with the beam out. Would it be as simple as halving the weight of the bus for a rear wheel dolly? What do you think a bus without a tranny and engine weigh ? |

made these a while back, similar to many dollies already in this thread. YES, I did accidently make them too tall, but I was surprised that they are extremely rigid. No, they will not break unless you try and roll the bus down a hill and off a sweet jump.
BUT, they would work just as well slightly shorter.
Its kinda hard to see in the photos, but they are adjustable to square up the bus on a slightly uneven slab. Just twist the baseplate by hand and youve got about an inch of adjustment.

OUCH!!!! I have seen much more stupid ideas!!! If your fron dollies are wide enought the single rear should tip, but wider is better _________________

Did you ever own a trike when you were a kid? An airplane might be another good example. |

I'm not an engineer, but with a single wheel in the back and two wheels up front bolted to the front like that looks unstable to me - the front wheels are too close together. Too narrow. Maybe if the front was modified so that the two dollies stick out to the sides further. As is, I would be worried a strong bump to the rear could destabilize it.
Think wheelbarrow. _________________
