I was trying to install the front bumper and I stripped two threads in the driver's side. Any suggestion how to fix without welding it on... |

if it's just cross threaded, get a tap and die set and chase the threads with the right size tap. if it's really messed up, carefully drill it out and tap it one size larger, and use larger bolts. _________________ OG JHC

The front bumper on a Thing basically attaches to the body with nuts that are welded on the inside of the mount. You actually have a few options to solve a stripped set of threads. The easiest and perhaps best solution is as was suggested in the last post. Get a tap of the correct size and gently rethread the nut. If that fails get a tap of the next larger size and cut those threads. If both of these fail, you can drill through and bolt the bumper through the body. This last solutiion is not an acceptable soltution for show cars or an intended perfect restoration. K-mann |

If there is enough metal left you can also use a heli-coil, that way you can still use the right size bolt if it really matters… |

74Thing... Those are cool but are going to require welding _________________ --- The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at and repair.
