So this 67 that was found here in my hometown is officially signed over to me now. I just paid the owner and picked up the title, as well as about 7 boxes of parts.

original lights, distributor, hub caps, replacement (new in box) interior parts, brakes, you name it and it's probably already there. (in boxes, not saying all of the original parts are on the car)

In the end, after seeing all of the parts that actually came with it, it was an amazing deal. There has to be a few hundred bucks worth of new parts in boxes, let alone all of the original to this 67 parts that were stowed away over the years.

It's still sitting over in front of the original owners place for now while I arrange the DMV paperwork, insurance/etc, but the fun officially starts now.

At some point this weekend im going to try and photograph/document all of the spares and originals parts that came with it to see what should be put back on and what's better left alone. (those funky original seatbelt mounts came with it, but appear to be just lap belts and no shoulder restraints - something like that I suppose the replacements are best left in place.)

a horn, some sort of rubber bushings and the bottom left appears to be some sort of bumper/antenna mount?

Top picture are heater box levers.
Picture with exhaust pee shooters are heater box repair inserts. You use them when the tips from the heater boxes are corroded beyond use.

lowest picture-far bottom right is fat chick bus mustache rubber mount. the steel sleeves near exhaust tips are heater box repair sleeves for rusted out ends that go into muffler. the 205K dist is stock for 67.

thanks for the parts ID so far.

I have a few more lots of parts to show....

another chunky bracket that looks similiar to the one with the antenna connection shown above, some misc gaskets, a hard metal line (fuel?), and a really old looking (but in seemingly fantastic shape) old brown dist cap. the contacts on the inside look new.

the tubing is vacuum tube from stock distributor to carb. the antenna is stock for 67 onwards. the wide band clamps go between heater boxes and clambshell pieces on muffler.

update: It runs, drives forward and stops.

the whole brake system needed to be redone, most of which I had in boxes but also needed two rear wheel Cylinders and all of the lines (hard and soft.)

The hard line running under/alongide/whatever the center channel of the bug, for the brakes, had a bunch of tiny holes in it.

new fuel lines, filters, plugs, plug wires, cap, rotor points, brake return spring, master Cylinder Adapter plugs for the master Cyl, 2 brake pressure switches, VC gaskets.....

still needs:
rear tires (cracked all over, probably not safe)
Muffler (one of the tips broke off, it seems way too rusty to do anything to it without it just cracking and breaking.

also a Voltage regulator is needed. It's working for now, but apparently it will go on and off and if the Gen light comes on and stays on I need to replace it then for sure.

any suggestions for exhaust?

it's still too new to me (beetles) and im overwhelmed with the different opinions out there....

more pics and details to follow. I really need to clean it up now. They did an amzing job making the motor compartment look good, but inside its all cobwebs and nastyness.

Man I wish my 67 were that good! Very nice find.

If you find a rear apron in that box of goodies, please let me know. I'll send you some beer for it Smile

I dunno what it is about the 67 thats so great. I mean, they had a HUGE sales year in 67 on bugs, but the fact that so many things are ONLY 67 is just cool to me.

Enjoy it man! I cant wait to get mine on the road. Its killing me having it sit in the driveway while i go thru all the stuff it needs in our short ohio summers.

In the last pic of the first post, the rubber bushing with the metal band around it, looks like a new mount for the front sway bar. There should be another metal piece to clamp the open end together, a C shaped piece.

It clamps the sway bar to the lower suspension beam.

They tell me the old brown distributor caps are rare and hard to get now.

Don't throw anything away, you never know what weird metal or plastic thing will turn out to be an irreplaceable part you didn't know you needed.

OK you can throw out the dried up ballpoint pens and McDonald's wrappers but that's all LOL.

Cool find! Is it just me, or does it look like this car had an engine fire in the past? The scorched decklid and rusty air cleaner seems odd.

it isn't scorched, it was really just that dirty.

the air cleaner actually cleaned up pretty well, it wasn't nearly as rusty as it looks in that pic.

ill take some shots in a few days once I can get it over to the self serv wash place and have at the bottom of the motor/trans with some serious degreaser.

Was that an Oregon or California car? I haven't seen one that rusty around these parts in a long time. Most of it looks like surface rust though. Might have spent it's life on the coast?

yup. it had the same owner from 1968 until now and the original owner for that first year (or just shy of it) was also on the coast. most of that time was in Santa Cruz, the rest of it has been here in Eureka, CA.

turns out though that you can polish a turd. some friends came over and we cleaned the F out of it, installing a bunch of the misc parts that came with it and took it for a few drives....

Lovely bug. But please, clamp those fuel lines. Like on the pictures, it will get fire sooner or later. Replace those old lines with new once and replace the grommet behind the fan shrould where the fuel line comes into the engine compartiment.

this is how the motor compartment looks now. the shop that got the motor running again replaced the fuel lines amongst other things, but I don't see any clamps, and will have to check that grommet behind the fan shroud...

so just throw some fuel clamps on the two lines coming to/from the fuel pump and on either side of the two fuel filters as seen in the pic? 6 clamps total ?
