I've seen the picture of that one in the Bentley before and wondered about it - it's got all three wires going to the voltage regulator. But I don't recall ever seeing one of those in person before. (never messed much with 6V stuff - got rid of 6V on my 62 very soon after I bought it) Here's the image from the Bentley:

agh- im guessing i cant use my current regulator then?
Numbers on my regulator
TA7v45A
0190213036
are those two wire coming out of the circle hole being connected to the same terminal? _________________ 1960 36hp sedan- 1978 adventurewagen

Zabo,
I just pulled an old Bosch Brazilian 6V regulator out of my stash that matches the #'s ( well sort of) on yours. I seem to recall it's about 15 years old. It says:
0190 212 032
TA 7V 45A
446
This came off a '66 from a friend of mine's that was still and remains to this day 6V. Can you kinda give us an idea where this wire originates from inside the generator? Where did you get this rebuilt from, is there a web link? It may be that you don't need that wire hooked up to anything and you can tape it off or something similar, but Andy has given you some really good info to ponder. Maybe some of the the early Beetle guys that still retain 6V will offer the differences in say like late model rebuilt 6V gens as opposed to your original. _________________ '66 Beetle

On the new gen, is there a flat spade connector on that far right wire coming out of the round hole? Looking at Andy's pic, it looks like you would need one and then a female connector attached to the VR post on that side. Or, just take the bare end and attach it with the other connection on the same side when you tighten down the screw. This is by no means any confirmation however. _________________ '66 Beetle
