What is the best & easy way to replace the canvas? Should I remove the pop top and do it on the ground , or leave it in place? I need to paint the whole westy any way? Any help is appreciated.

There is no easy way to replace the canvas. Search the forums, there are plenty of topics covering canvas replacement.

As said, do a search. I did my '71 with the top on - I wouldn't say it was hard. Couple of hours, patience and a staple gun. That's about it.

I redid my canvas with the top on. I had a hard time understanding the directions in bently(they give instructions/photos, but with the top off), at first, but got it replaced right with the fold over, and hiding the staples. And I did it by myself...just take your time, be patient
