So my horn doesn't work. I first figured this out by pressing on it. Smile Then checking the voltage at the horn itself while someone else pressed on it.

Okay, okay, so I have to start removing things. I take off the horn cover, the wires have been snipped. Great, so I solder and tape them back together. Still not working, so I remove the steering wheel (24mm socket).

This is what I see...

So it looks like the brass ring on the steering wheel is buggered and needs to be replaced. Can this be done? Or do I need to purchase a new steering wheel?

Secondly, the brass tab on the steering column is a bit ragged. It looks like it still might work, though I'd love to replace this one as well. Is it replaceable?

Thirdly, I'm not sure how to test it to see if there are any other problems down the line. I found the wire coming from that brass tab, near the ignition, should connecting that wire to ground or to hot complete the circuit and give me a nice blast on the horn? (I'm not going to try until I hear that it's okay to do...) Bentley is useless here, there's only one page (that I've found) that comes close to describing the steering column and it doesn't really touch on the horn.

TIA,

Stephen

Replace the horn ring. Available from many different vendors.

The other part is on the turn signal assembly.

Thanks for that one mate.

Still stumped as to tracking down the voltages. Anyone?
