Hi guys, I'm wanting to know how bad it would be to put a full automatic trans setup from a type 3 squareback in a bug. I've had the thought for a while now and would just like to know what it all involves and how hard it would be to do. I've had an autostick before and I personally liked it but kinda shied away from them once I started hearing some horror stories about them having problems. I've heard the type 3 automatic swap has been done. Anyone out there done it???

Somewhere there is a thread where the full auto is stuffed into a Super Beetle Convertible. It was a beautiful job, but not easy. The full auto does not fit inside the Beetle rear pickle fork without some cutting and welding. You also have to create the rear transaxle mount as the later type 3 cars with the full auto relied on a rear engine mount to support that end.

If it was easy I would be planning to stuff that into my beach buggy. The type slush box seems pretty strong and shifting is less than ideal in a Berry Mini-T.
