Some lady was suppose to have a AW Westy from a foreclosure that I was gonna pick up today for $500, I know sounds too good to be true but I didn't want to pass it up, she tells me she has all the paper work needed and it'll need to be towed cause it was sitting for a couple of days with flat tires. So I'm 15 miles from her place and she calls to tell me someone towed it away and not to come and then click, I cLose back and it went straight to voicemail. Raaa I think she was trying to sell me someone elses vehicle. She even had a fellow sambas hopes up as well. Has anyonE had this happen to themselves?

At a minimum she was inconsiderate if she did not tell you there were competing buyers and it was first come, first served.

Not sure what the motivation would be to try to run some kind of scam.

At least she called you to tell you to turn around.

Someone probably offered her more money and she didn't handle the situation with you very well.

nothing is yours till it's in your driveway and the official state paperwork has your name printed on it.

the rest are purely speculative. and buyer beware.
least it was just around in town and you didn't waste airfare and hours on the road to get called as you pull into town that someone came by and offered $50 more.. don't laugh just that sort of things has, does & will happen.

She mentioned I was the first person and there were others wanting it but she said shed hold it.

I told her I'd beat any offer she got and she said it wasn't about the money

It now just doesn't seen legit

shit happens. Oh well Smile

Well, if you are feeling particularly unkind you can always hope that the other buyer never changes the fuel lines.

yo blake, I emailed her yesterday, musta been right after you, cause I got a reply from her, here it is :

"I think I have a buyer but just in case it is a 1982 and it is around..it is perfect in the interior and exterior and has enough parts from a garage to pay for itself. You NEED TO TOW ASAP so that it doesn't get impounded...since this is a foreclosure case. The guy lost entire property and had to move last minute on all vehicles and stuff! The guy is the man that you see in one of the pics...I believe. My number is 909 931-1345 and it has two beds upper and lower with the bench on bottom being one of the beds/two capt chairs excetional condition and not frayed. I may have it sold though tonight or by morning. So call first/"

Then this morning at 9:31 am, i get this message:

"(909) 931-1345 and the location to come look at it is 593 N 8th Avenue Upland, CA 91786"

What time did you head out there. Whole thing seems kinda funny to me, but man thatsa steal of a deal. On another note, I see from your sig that your in ventura, I'm over in somis, near camarillo, two syncros in the vc, what a trip.

Hey, burns & blake,

I'm next door to Upland and not in the market to buy. Next time somethin' comes up down here, let me know I'd be glad to do some leg work, take some phone pics. PM me if you want a cell #.

Cool

yeah that was me. She gave me the same info and was pretty insistant on being sneaky about getting It out of there and when I asked for more interior pics she said that shed rather not be poking around it in case cops got suspicious but that still didn't matter to me lol.

She told me to call asap and that was at 9:30Am this morning and she said she didn't think I'd come (she was suppose to call me when she awoke) and I said I was leaving right then for it and 15 min before ariving she then called to let me know it was gone. Fishy still but whatever

I wouldn't call that scammed- you didn't lose any deposit $$, airfare, time off work, gas money or sleep.
I would say that you might have gotten off easy if it was a shady deal.

Better that than going to jail for grand theft auto. Sounds like you would have been out $500 + the van when you would have tried to register it.
If it smells like shit, probably is.

Am I missing something on the AW? I never saw an upstairs bed on any of the ones I've seen. The hardtop with the roof top tent seems like it would sleep more people to me. Obviously I've never owned an AW.
