Haven't seen the movie, but I do recall seeing some clip and movie set footage (when a truck rolled over injuring a bunch of actors) and saw some kube's

Saw the movie and dug it. My wife dug it too (probably something with Tom Cruise).

The kubels were great.

They were nice. If they were replicas, they did a nice job. Even the dash looked authentic. Having said that, Im no Kubel expert. Almost every outside scene of the movie featured at least one Kubel. Then, in the scene where they were taking to bomb to the meeting room, there was what seemed to be a full war beetle in the back ground, complete with blackout lights.

Two kooblekars and an original. I haven't actually seen the movie, though.

My brother who used to work at kubelkar said they used 2 of the kubelkars for the explosion scenes mostly. So that way they didn't destroy a real one. They may have used the kubelkars for real scenes as well, but I am sure they used a real Kubelwagen for the really detailed shots of the inside of the the kubel. Either way it was very cool to see a bunch of kubels driving around in a movie. As for the movie it was just ok.

Just noticed too in the TV previews for the new Tarantino movie Inglorious Basterds where a kubel gets riddled head on with bullets, my bet its another Kooble.

Hi folks,

it is always funny to see that some people seem to know everything - but if you look behind ist is just talking.
We gave our 4weel drive KDF for the film and they used it at some seens ( you can see the front at the parking place at the Wolfsschanze.
I saw the cars they used and all were orginal Kubel and there were no kubelcars used.
The kubel they blew up was a very bad orginal kubel with new repro metal put on.

When I saw beetle in the row of parked cars there,
I wondered if it was real or not.

Yes, it is funny how some people seem to know everything. Two kooblekars were indeed produced for the movie.

Inglourious Basterds video trailer:

http://filmdrunk.uproxx.com/2009/02/furst-trayler-four-inglourious-basterds

At 1:22 looks like only the windshield gets blown out, can't tell if its a kubel or a kooble.

I think the discrepancy can be easily explained. The parts of the film made in Germany used genuine wartime VWs, and the desert scenes, which were probably filmed in California, used Kooblecars.

I am not claiming to know everything but my brother also menthioned that the desert scenes were to be filmed in New Mexico which is the same state where the kooblekar is made. He may have been mistaken because he left kooblekar before the 2 kars were finished for filming. They could have changed the location from the time he left until the movie started filming that scene. This was well over two years ago when he initially told me of the fact that they were using a kooble for the movie. Again either way it is still very cool to see that many old VWs used in one movie. Maybe from now on non VW poeple will start recognizing them for what they are and appriciate them a little bit more.
