Wondering if anyone knows a place to get the little plastic thing that goes on the ends of the upper slider window track. I'm missing three of the four, and because both are missing from my passenger side the window sits to low to lock in the little groves on the inside. If these parts are long gone, does anyone know of a way to fix the window?

I made my own out of black plastic sheet, just thicker than the groove in the aluminum slider. Cut it down to length, leaving a slight raised piece at the outer end, and milled a slot.
Having a small milling machine does make it easier, but I imagine the same thing could be done with a hacksaw and files. _________________ '88 VW Westfalia

Wow . . . that's rad. Cool diagram.
I ended up looking around the garage for something that would fit in the groove, and settled on 12-14 gauge wire connectors. You know those red plastic tubes you use to crimp wire together? Anyway, they fit nice and snug in the gap and slide pretty good on the rail. I just gently tapped them far enough in that you could no longer see them. Now my windows are the correct height and lock like they should.
Thanks for all your help! _________________ '84 Westfalia |
