I have my new headliner sewn up, bows in, ready to go for my 53. However, all the info I'm finding regarding headliners is for the "full" headliner. Lots of talk of gluing, cutting etc Very Happy

When it comes to these standard headliners, what it the procedure for installing? Looking at my 57 I can't tell.

Are the front/ back glued in while the the bows just lay inside??

IIRC the standard headliners had cardboard strips sewn along the perimeter on all 4 sides. these went on and hooked on the inside lips of the roof rails. The bows simply hooked in over top of the rails and supported the middle.

Thanks, pretty much what I was thinking. So there is no need to use glue whatsoever? It all just "hangs" there.

This is one of the principle reasons I like standards so much: super simple headliner.

True, but I have the - not so simple - standard sunroof (3 fold) option Smile

You can see the left front corner is coming down a bit. These corners are glued in with the rest of it tucked in with cardboard strips.

Ive had problems with U.S. supplied headliners in the past .Seeing as we buy a deluxe hdlnr. and throw away the rest It has pissed me off to find a loose fit and have to have a trimmer tailor it to fit right. Id try wolfsburg west. The other way Ive done them is to pick my fabric (40by 60") spray glue it to 1\2" foam then sew in lines at the bow spacings then using headliner glue or green upholstery glue spray the roof and foam and install tucking the excess away .It looks just like the oe headlining and costs perhaps $25.00. Not for the vintage car show but for customs and the bugget challenged.
