|
|
Hi:
I have a 1964, 4 cyl, 12V, with coil volkswagen karmann ghia. Purchased a Carbon Fiber Monster tach and have the following issues, any advice is greatly appreciated:
1 - Which wires do I clip for my car (2 pulse or 1 pulse setting)?
2 - The fuse (1 A) for power blows...I have a Carbon fiber speedo also connected and it works for some time, but also blow after several minutes, but the tach not even move and blow the fuse...I am taking the power directly from the main fuses (red baterry main), both shares the same ground cable to the battery directly.
3- May I use a more standard amperage fuse or the 1 A is the only one that must be used? I am having problems trying to find them, only Radio Shak have a 1 A fuses, but says for 250 V....
4- Have a bernnie bergmann kit, 55 Amps, connected the cables directly to it, no regulator, but after several minutes , the Gen light stays ON. Did someone have some instructions on how to connect the cables at the back of the alternator? Do I need a regulator?
Thanks, |

You should clip it for 2 pulse (per the Autometer tech line). I would use whatever fuse is recommended in the Autometer instructions. I cant remember what fuse mine took (I've got a Sportcomp 2 with external shift light) but I had to get it from Radio Shack. If your having problems with fuses blowing, you've probably got some issues somewhere else in the wiring. I've never dealt with a Bergman setup so I cant answer on that _________________ FUCK CANCER

The voltage rating of a fuse is not important in this case, (by the way that is a maximum rating).... 1 amp is 1 amp no matter what voltage for this purpose.....
Where did you get the 1 AMP value for fuse..... Most Autometer installation instructions do not even show a fuse let alone specify fuse size, most just and just show a direct connect to "switched 12 volts"

As for loops to clip...

For Bergman "stuff" go to Bergman....

Manufacturer advice to use a single fuse of 3 Amps to connect both the tach and the speedo, and its worked fine.
Thanks |
