Ok, so I'm bringing a '73 back to life. Pics Here:

When I moved it I think I busted a brake line in the rear so I will have to replace all of those, but I'm trying to get a list of things I need to bring with me to get it running well enough to drive 60 miles to a different garage and am looking for suggestions. The garage it's in now is in a very rural area with few resources.
So far:
things I need before I get there- Chirco tune-up kit
- Chirco Emergency Road Side Kit
- Rear Cage (shock absorber mount)
- rear cage mounts (shock absorber)
- exhaust system
Things I can get when I get thar from yon Advance Autoparts
- oil
- tranny fluid
- battery
- brake fluid
- brake lines

and then?
Whether I do this where it is (Hampton SC) or 60 miles from where it is (Aiken SC) makes no difference in my mind but 60 miles of back-road driving is a whole lot more sensible than 220 miles of I-20 for the first run. What I'm saying is the 60 miles is arbitrary; a goal for the few days I have after Christmas to get it running. The ultimate goal is to get it to Midway on the Alabama/GA border from South on the GA/SC border before the first of the year. Towing will probably be involved, but the less of it the better and the closer to I-20 I am the more likely I can get a friend to do it for me instead of paying out dear, dear fixit funds. |

after sitting that long one of the first things I would do is pull both ends of the fuel line and blow air through it. If you get good air flow, I would follow that with some brake cleaner or carb cleaner. Lacquer thinner or mineral spirits would also do in a pinch, then blow the line down again. A quick once over on the carb, filter etc is a no brainer. _________________ 2006 RAM 1500 HEMI 4X4 92 LT250

Ok, one of the things I forgot to mention I was gonna do was pull the gas tank and see if there's any buildup. You think this method might prevent me from having to do that? |
