I'm currently restoring a 1965 convertible it's my first vert and it's a whole different ball game from the 63 ragtop I had the car is pretty much taken apart and in the process of being gone through bolt by bolt I actually just replaced my pan halves in my garage a simple diy for any handy man I just thought I'd share my build with those vw enthusiasts out there like me share your thoughts give advise I could use knowledge of those who have been doing this longer than me
My plans may not be everyone's taste but to each their own right?
Basically I'm going full bolt on airride from jerfab as I already have a custom airride beam I don't plan on welding or cutting anything what so ever as I don't want to ruin this beautiful vert.
Let me know what you guys think I'd like to hear some feed back

Haven't posted in a while but I'm plugging along with this build here are some updated pic of metal work that has been getting done recently.
Once we sat the body down on the pan we realized the cheap panhalves I had put on in the beginning didn't fit that well so I had to buy brand new Wolfsburg west pan halves which was a big bummer because my pan had already been Sand blasted and powder coated but it is what it is have to keep plugging along
Once I finished the pan it was on to repairing the heater channels because I didn't want to go through the pain of removing these convertible heater channels.

Had to modify this repair panel a little to fit right
Sprayer some rust preventative before I close the heater channels
Gotta make sure those body bolts don't spin |

Nice job so far...
Sucks having to redo the pans especially after having it powder coated, some of the bolt holes on mine were off as well. Did the Wolfsburg West pans fit up perfectly?
Nice work on the heater channels and support rails as well.
I have the body off my 65 vert right now sitting on saw horses and 4x4s, I want to be able to move it in and out of the garage with ease. I really like the body dolly that you have there. Would you happen to share dimensions and some pictures of it? I think I might have to build one, it would make things much easier.

AWESOME WORK DUDE !!!
I'm deep into a resto on a 1966 vert too unlucky for me its in a bad way so all the heater channels and strenghener have to be replaced ... as you say its a hole new ball game on a vert ...... A bit of a mind screw really as I find lots of the panels are a poor fit ... so much I'm now having to hunt down a front clips for the car
You're doing a great job there well done and keep the pics coming dudes
over and out

Sure takes a lot of time and patience with these old convertibles. Looks like you guys are on the same three to four year plan I'm on. Keep up the good work! Keep the pictures coming. _________________ Oprn wrote: I'm getting to the age that any self propelled woman (no wheel chair or walker) looks HOT!! Oooo! look at that Babe! Nice Work.
Were you happy with the result of the water blasting?
I thought about going that route on my 66 Landcruiser. _________________ 65 Bug

| Really nice work. Your chassis/suspension/tire and wheel setup looks on point. Once I get my body sorted out and get it running/driving, I may decide to go a similar route. |

| Awesome. Never got to the stage you are at, but I do wish I cut into the interior "foot rest" area to replace the paper piping for the defrost vents. Well, you could say this about any Bug really. Stuff fell down there from the trunk, and the paper tubing was shot. Nows the time, and keep hammering. |
