Looking for someone to tell me what a fair price would be on a pair of "Clacker" (or flip flop) semaphores. These were the kind used on emergency vehicles from what ive been told. They are the early grooved style, and in working order. How hard are they to find and what would current market value to pay be? Thanks.

Having been restoring and selling sems for over 10 years now, my opinion is that these clackers aren't worth any more than the regular split grooved or ribbed sems. I bought a set of "mint" ones for $1200 5 or so year ago, that turned out to need work and I ended up fully restoring them. I just wanted a set for my "museum" cabinet and find them interesting and curious. But while they are somewhat rare, the market demand for them is really low. And BTW, they pull about twice the current that the regular ones do, so if you want them to working an a split or bus, you better have really solid wiring and battery power. I would value them at $1000-$1200 *if* working and complete. The plastic terminal cover is often missing on these too.

Oh, and they are a PIA to restore too....
