I hope 1974 is vintage enough. Ocean Ave. Seal Beach California.

Chris,
I already quoted this pic over on the split bus forum as well. This is at the International Airfield Race at Aspern, near Vienna Austria, in 1963.
That is a pretty rare model as it is a transitional A T1-T2. it has high license plate light and already teardrop taillights. fwiw to the best of my information, there were only ca 400 of these ever built. The coupe is painted Signal Red, which wasn't a factory color back then ( except Speedsters). the black Austrian license plate starts with a G ( stating that it was registered in my hometown Graz) and has a '9' in it. 356s are and were very rare here.

Fast Forward, 2023. A friend of mine buys a 356 A in Graz, from the second owner (since 1958), who raced it in the 1960s (several mods still present on car). It is special order signal red 601 with Reutter tag to prove. The old registration number was G31.964.
I did a lot of work on it last summer and now it's fully roadworthy again after 40 years hibernation (last inspection 1983).
Looking into finding a copy of the race day program to prove the starter#'s name.
In my mind there is no doubt. what would be the chance of 2 out of 400, being delivered in special order color, living in the same city, and both getting raced....

Here she is ! Very Happy

I looked through this entire very enjoyable thread to see if others had already identified some of the people.

From 4/2022-

The center man is Porsche factory mechanic Herbert Linge, who also became one of the factory's most versatile racers.

From 4/2022-

The woman is Ferry Porsche's older sister Louise Piech, with her tall husband Anton between them. Mrs. Piech would soon be appointed the official importer of Porsche for Austria, Porsche Salzburg. Their son Ferdinand Piech would join Porsche in Stuttgart and developed the legendary 917 race car. He later went on to Audi, then became Chairman of the Board of the Volkswagen Group.

From 5/2022-

Man in center holding up the hood appears to be Porsche factory race driver and journalist Richard von Frankenberg. He created the Porsche in-house magazine "Christophorus". Man at right with glasses is longtime Porsche public relations director Huschke von Hanstein, seen in many other photos in this thread.

From 5/2022, another RUNKLE submission-

Looks like British motor journalist Denis "Jenks" Jenkinson, whose main claim to fame was being the navigator to Sir Stirling Moss driving the Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR roadster in record-breaking time in the 1955 Mille Miglia.

Man on left is Porsche engineer Erwin Komenda, who styled not only the 356 but also the original Beetle.

Man in center in suit is longtime Porsche engineer Hans Klauser, who later became head of service for the Austrian importer Porsche Salzburg. He was also on Prof. Dr. Porsche's team who built the very first Beetle (V1) at Porsche's villa garage in Stuttgart. Aforementioned Herbert Linge at right.

Pretty French actress Yvette Mimieux.

4th man from left is Max Hoffman, official Porsche importer for the USA in the 1950's. Likely at his Porsche and Mercedes-Benz showroom on Park Avenue in Manhattan, New York which was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. After selling off most of his import brands by the early 1960's, he became the official importer for BMW until its buy-out by BMW AG to become BMW of North America in 1975.

Thanks Rome. That's a lot of information to take in, but now I know where I can find it.

First post on the Samba.

Here I am posing with my mom, a random candy striper, and my (recently inherited) '56 356A in February 1968.
