I am replacing the lower section of the windshield frame. I had cut and removed the rusted/rotted lower windshield section. When I put the new lower windshield replacement panel in, I have nothing to weld the bottom of the replacement windshield piece where the bottom of the windshield frame meets the top of the front nose. What do I do now??????
Thanks,
Bruce |

I am not sure what you mean but, once the piece is welded in at the top and side edges, the sill is spot welded to the nose panel. _________________ Don't worry; be happy. (Baba) |

I think you might have cut the lower part that you could have rested the replacement on. There is a lip if you just cut the top layer of metal. Here's a link to my lower windshield replacement. Hope this helps.

inspiring build thread, esp. since it's being done outside! keep it going. |
Thanks! Progress has been slow lately. COLD! And I wish I had a garage. |

I am in a similar situation. My Windscreen is rusted pretty well, but no holes or rust through. The overlaying metal is not swelling.
My question is with a condition like this, how does one restore this area and not have rust reappear from under the overlay?
What is the best method, media blast then POR treat, the prime and paint?

Looks like it was painted with a live chicken, polished with a brick and buffed with a pine cone |

sandblast and paint with POR15 then prime as per their guidelines. it isn't 100% needed to sandblast if you're using POR15 but when the rust is like that i'd do it if you have the ability.
here is a photo gallery with some decent details on replacing the lower channel. the owner of the bus is a member here, velvetgreen.

I just got the sheet metal piece from Gerson of Klassic Fabrications delivered to my house. It's the piece that the lower windshield repair panel welds onto. Thanks everyone for your advice and input. Gerson, muchas gracias!!!!!!! |
