Newbie here again, i have a chance to pick up a 81 van with a sunroof(factory, metal) cheep(500$). 103k on the odo. usual surface rust , light to medium(in drivers foot well). One 1/4 inch hole under rear window. The body is straight with exception of a dent the size of a baseball on drivers side rear wheel arch. the van has sat for four years with a full tank of gas. P.O states the clutch died on a trip. He had it towed home bought a sachs clutch,a creeper , ramps, a service manuel and lost interest.(all go w/van) My thoughts were to get this running ( i will need help from the board later), and eventually turn into a camper. Or, use it as a donor vehicle for a future camper . Or , run and hide, again . thanks for your input Ben.
P.S. the last camper i passed up, is back on C.L. for $5800 from $1700, i could have had it for, still complete with the same dents &238k. Its crazy out here , bidding wars for vans .A few guys buying up the best ones(easiest to fix )and turning huge profits.I'm green with envy. This is ment to be a hobby

Replacing the clutch isnt a huge undertaking if you got a bit of spare time and maybe a friend to help with the removal and refitting of the transmission. And if you're handy with a welder, the rust should be doable as well (I personally hate bodywork involving rust removal). The price of the car sounds cheap tho, and I love those sunroofs. This might be the car for you Smile If the state of it is worse than you thought you could always sell it again, maybe even without loosing money.....

It will become more than that real soon. For me, it was a obsession after the first trip.

PS I got my 82 air cooled for $1800.00 with everything working.
