i have a 1967 beetle and my indicator handle besides steering is broken. i have opened it and repaired the handle but could'nt get the indicators work as it was assembled back wrong. can anyone help me with a circuit diagram and how does it work when closed. do someone has tried to open their indicator handles? i am in PK now and a new one is not available in market...

I had the same problem exactly. Broken handle etc. Here's what I concluded:

I took it apart and found that the innards were binding and that is why it took a lot of force for the PO to use the turn signals. So much binding that excessive force broke the handle. I found the binding parts inside but....after research on The Samba, I realized that these innards are complicated to fix and most of the time they are shot.

I bought a very nice silver beige unit from Airhead parts along with a real nice silver beige steering wheel. Best deal in town.

More than one company made turn switches for VW. The most common is SWF but that doesn't look to be one. You might look at these threads where a couple of styles are discussed:
