I recently acquired an original invoice for a 1962 Beetle that was sold by my father. He was a salesman for Jim Kelly’s Volkswagen in Buffalo, NY from 1962 until 1977. This is a great piece of history for me. The individual who I got it from said he got it in the mid 80’s from the original purchaser of the car.

It is amazing to actually see the cost of this car new and how much was given for the trade-in

I was wondering if anyone still has this car and where it might be today. I would never be able to part with this invoice, due to sentimental reasons, but I would be willing to send a copy to whoever owns the car now. Hopefully this car is still around.

Thanks for everyone’s help,
Chris Schick

Chris,

Certainly would be nice to locate the car. You might consider changing the title to the post to "Do You Own This Car? The numbers are all there; even the key number.

Good Luck.

What are "Squirts"? Windshield washers, I would think. Funny name for them.

When I bought my first VW (a used '64 sedan in 1966) I got $200 for a '58 Ford Skyliner (retractable) on trade.

I'm not sure many people read this part of the forum try posting it in the bug section you might get a bigger hit on it but it is very interesting and you should offer to buy the car if you have the money

definitely expensive. that's realistically like paying $790 in today's dollars. delivery is up there too.

$15.45 in sales tax seems like a bargain.

How about only putting $10 down for a deposit on a new car?
