|
|
Tried to fix my Ignitor II module in my new 009 distributor today.
According to the instructions the plastic ring should be to gently forced down over the distributor axel.
Somehow this doesn't apply with my ring. I've tried tapping with rubber mallet - not using brute force though - but it wont.
Should I just use a bigger hammer or?
Thanks... |

Make sure it's lined up; turn it slightly as your push down. Mine was an extremely tight fit. I destroyed it when I removed it with screwdrivers months later. I think I may have even had to razor-chamfer a bevel to the edge of the plastic ring. _________________ One-on-one tech help for your vintage Volkswagen:

Problem is, they make these for a lot of different distributors. You need the part number off the box to make sure you received the correct one.
I have run across the Magnet Sleeve being tight. But not to the point it requires hammering it on.
You may need to contact Pertronix.com and see if they will send you another Magnet Sleeve.
Good Luck

Just found the box, it says "91847A" - and should fit 009 Distributor...
Besides that - the magnet sleeve feels a little loose like it doesn't fit the square on the axel 100%..
Bought it from KMJ Performance, Maybe I should ask them if they got one fits more precise... |
