ok fresh engine,,, lacking in the head department ...

There 040's 35.5 x 32, don't worry there ported, ss valves, spring ect ...

the engine runs very well with these carbs,,, >> in the shop..

This is in not my car >>> money.. These carbs just came off a 1600 ( ?? ) I have tuned these carbs for the last two years, so I know there working right ... after doing alot of jetting ,,

problem is I only have 50 and 55 Idle jets, not even sure what mains are in them right now...

I have never set up a engine this size using single barrel carbs,,, at this point I have the 55 idles installed..

using these on both size engines, I have never been able to get a clean exhaust, meaning on the 1600 always a black smoke on acceleration, fallowed by even more black as you let off..

now on the 2176 ,, black on accelertion, at the moment of letting off it turns a nice gray to white, then right back to black.

the question,, what a good base line jetting on kads on a engine over 2000 cc

don't even ask why the heads or say get webers, not going to happen

Todays fuel won't "color" like days gone by.....look at the tail pipe of any modern fuel injected car, and it'll look like a coal mine.....I've dynoed several large motors with Kads, and you'll need to be in the 150 to 160 main range....

Smoke= rich, nomatter what color it is!
There was a "heads up" on here awhile back about the acc pump nozzle being to close to the venturi causing it to be too rich.
Also, bigger venturis will be a good idea, do you have a way to machine them larger?

55s seem right on spot for baseline jetting. Expect your engine to peak below 5grand.

welp, I took it for a drive today,,

It runs nice, very smooth,, easy and fun to jet around in,, This Baja is a 100% make over ..

This 2176 is a twin to my rail engine except heads and carbs.. This thing is a pig, compared to mine..
I jetted these for a 1600, the main turn out to be 120's. which were the largest I had... out came my drills, crap my drills are all to small.... next ,, get out the torch tip drills and find two that are larger than the 120 jet...

after playing with the mic, drills and jets.. it F88K it , hog out two unknown jet .. to the smallest big drill bit .. LOL.. leaving on that 2 th's bigger ..

I did see a bit more top end,, there's no tac in the car,, but this thing comes on right off the line, my guess is the power band is gone by 4200 rpm . so it's about equal to a good running 40 hp

No kadron hate here, if your running stock heads kadrons can feed them as good as anything.

for a motor that big, just up the venturis to 32mm's. the 4mm jump will help ALOT on the RPM area.
