Split licence plate bracket

I have a N.O.S. decklid for my 50 and it has factory holes for euro plates. How does a U.S. plate mount? Do I drill two holes for a standard license plate bracket or is there one that slips under popes nose?Any pictures?

License plates and their brackets were always mounted directly to the deck lid. This was accomplished with drilled holes. Oval era cars were the first to get a bracket that mounted under the license plate light so no additional holes were needed.

But necessity is the mother of invention. So now these are available-

How about one of these? There must be one "out there" somewhere...Much more elegant in design. Looks like a simple stamping. Mika?
