so here is the dilemma. i have nearly everything for the motor to get it up and running, just not all high end parts yet. i have a scat c95 cam and an fk8, a set of 040 heads, and 1 44 idf carb. now i can get better heads, run the fk8 or c95 and single carb. or i can get dual carbs use, get some work done on the 040s and use those with either cam. just getting antsy to take it for a spin. i figure it will be about 500 at least on either decent heads or carbs, right now i can do one or the other. its not a daily driver so if i have to pull the motor one again just to swap the cam, no big deal. what do your opinions on this situation. i know you have all been there once before.

Two things:

1. Get the heads first. Bigger carbs will bolt on.

2. Be patient. Sit back and wait till you can do it right. Get both. It's only cash, right?

This statement seems to show up a lot, and it's not a bag on you, but it's laughable. I don't understand why a cam change is not a big deal to people. Tearing the whole motor apart is no big deal?

That said, my vote is for you to do it all at once, the way you want it, the first time. Wait for the money.

If you are pulling the case apart to upgrade the cam it would be wise to do the heads when you pull all apart. It IS better to do it all at once though. I would wait and do it all together.

My Vote is go Fk8 cam now. Also do the heads.. You already have a single 44 carb. That will run ok for now. When you get a few more bucks search for another 44 carb that matches and you have both done. DONT BE IN A HURRY just because you want to drive the car. If you skimp on somthing you will pay down the road. It always ends up that way.
