I'm having a hard time figuring out exactly how to finish my blinker install. I got one from Mid American but can't figure out the right setup. I have gone over the wiring diagram for a 67 but that doesn't match up to what their blinker comes with. A couple emails from them don't help either as one email from them gives 2 different answers to what does what. My main question (if anyone else has ordered one from them) is what do I do with the short brown wire, the longer brown/white wire with the brown extension, and the black wire with the small blue extension (the blue extension has a tiny female spade connector and I dont have any male connector that will fit it).

Am I being dumb and just missing something or is there something I am losing in translation?

Here is their answer to my question.

brown and brown with yellow stripe are for the dimmer

black with the little blue wire is the main feed wire

green with black stripe is right turn

black wht white stripe left turn

Dimmer Switch is on the end of the turn signal lever, on the

forward (bottom) side. just a narrow clicker switch.

9-27-10/4283mark

Mark and Russell’s version 10-26-07

Car Switch

--------------------------------

BK/wh to BK/wh to LH Turn Signal

BK/gn to GN/bk to RH Turn Signal

Bk/Wh/Gn to BK w/BL/Bk extension to Turn/Flasher Relay

BR to BR to Dimmer Relay

BR/wh to BR/yw w/BR/yw extension to Windshield Wiper Switch

Here are the wires I am wondering about along with my best guess as to where they are supposed to go.

1. Short brown (supposed to go to the horn but its nowhere near long enough?)

2. Brown White + Brown combo/pigtail wire (BR/W to dimmer relay (J2), then brown to wiper switch (E)?) Funny thing about this, when I connect the brown/white to the dimmer relay and the brown to the wiper switch, every time I turn the lights on and off I get bright, then dim, then bright, etc.

3. Black + Blue combo (Black to 49a on the Turn signal & emergency flasher relay (J1), then blue to ??? The blue has a very small connector on it and I don't see anywhere that has a male spade that small for it to even fit?)

Thanks!

The horn circuit is not part of the actual turn signal circuits and wiring for it.

Do you have 5 terminals (circuits) coming from the turn signal switch harness?

If so name the colors of them all.

Aftermarket switches have had an issue with wire color consistancy... we have delt with these, but you need to have an ohm meter or continuity tester.

From another post..

aha, aftermarket. What color wires? I think there's been different ones in the aftermarket and I'm not really sure if there is any kind of consistancy in the wiring colors. Really though, just 5 wires, and the two for the headlight clicker should be obvious, so that's 3 wires. If you have an ohm meter it's not very difficult to figure out which is the "middle" connection and then the two that branch off for Left and Right.

Yeah - once you get the meter - do this first - see what wires make connections in the various positions and jot it down

For example - dimmer switch pushed connects black and black/white

Left turn signal connects brown and orage

right turn signal connect pink and purple

These are not correct colors - just an idea of what info to have when you post again.

I had the same issue and figured it out myself, but its been a while.

That link goes over exactly what I am going through. I guess I needed to search for turn signal and not blinker! Thanks for the input and I'll see how it works tonight!
