I've been looking for a squareback for a while now, I reallly want a 1969 or earlier. I've been checking the classifieds, craigslist etc but still unsuccessful. But I've noticed that there are more 71 squarebacks out there than any other year. Just curious if they made more squarebacks in 71.

Also, are there any other type 3 sites to look for a squareback on? I've tried the samba classifieds, but I was wondering if there are any other type 3 fourms with a classifieds section.
Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. None of them are pre 69, and I'd rather stick with a type 3.
Thanks.

well let me tell you
the type 4 is awesome
i have a T3 and a 411 both 71, F.I. Automatic

i love it
its a bit to get it on the road
but you have 2 things and a 63 rag

but you might have to travel for a good priced good type 3 (pre 69)

strange, my 68 just within the last couple years made its way from colorado (it was sold at ed carroll's in Fort Collins) here to MN.

here in MN all i usually see are 70+ with my 68 being the only early style ive ever seen on the road (im not counting the ones in BSQUARE's garage since i have yet to see them on the road!)

being a heck of alot closer to states with clean cars than myself, id recommend finding a good clean unmolested car from the south or cali out there and then having it delivered or just going and getting it.

My '68 Square made it's way from San Jose, Ca to Houston, Texas to Fort Wayne, Indiana We have ZERO squarebacks out here. I don't remember seeing one out here on the road in the past 10 years. I have seen one or two at VW shows here and in Michigan, but they are a rare commodity Crying or Very sad

Well I finally found one. Well actually 5. We found a white 71 Squareback that was in ok condition, the floors were solid, but rust in the wheel well and a front end that has been wrecked at one point. After that we found a parts car to finish the first 71.
Dad loved it so much that he wanted a nice one so he found a blue 71.
Mom loved dad's squareback so much that she wanted one so then we got a matching blue 72
Yesterday I found a 71 in a guys backyard and bought it. So now we are up to 5 squarebacks.
I'll post pics soon. Anyways my parents are having a blast in them.
It's just kinda funny that I couldn't find one back in November and now we are up to 5.
Thanks
