The front looks pushed forward and the back looks stretched back. I'm almost positive the front has, but it might just be my eyes playing trucks on me due to big wheels and no fenders.
Either way, how would I go about getting a stance like that? I'm thinking after I sell my baja, buy a Standard and do something to that affect. My budget only allows rusted out borderline salvageable Bugs, so I won't feel too guilty cutting it up. _________________ 1974 Volkswagen Super Beetle - Daily Driver/Rolling Project Beater - Stock w/ GT Style Exhaust

Look here....Good information...
http://www.volksrods.com/
Some people love them, some hate them.
I personally like them. Some Volksrods or the likeness, are very creative. I'll be doing my own someday. _________________ aka Ken {o\!/o}

We build Hotrod VWs right beside restored originals. Its a nice mix around here.
To get a stance like I think you want, you have to lower the rear, raise the engine and trans, section the body and chop the top. The one we are building has extensive frankenstich everywhere.
Another site with the same interest (mix) is HAMB/SocialGroups/Aircooled Cool. I'm way too old for the crowd at Volksrod.

Thanks for the input.
Can I get anywhere close to that stance without bringing the motor/trans up? I'm also under the impression that if I go more than a notch down, I should probably do an IRS swap - yes? _________________ 1974 Volkswagen Super Beetle - Daily Driver/Rolling Project Beater - Stock w/ GT Style Exhaust

I never planned on keeping the baja - I got the car free, got a cheap baja kit, a free motor (the one in the car is rebuildable, too) and some tires/wheels already. I planned on making it driveable and selling it. I have paint and a spray gun, so I figure I might as well as try to make some money instead of selling it as parts. _________________ 1974 Volkswagen Super Beetle - Daily Driver/Rolling Project Beater - Stock w/ GT Style Exhaust

Pushing the axle forward requires a beam extender if you are using the VW axle. As pointed out, many Volksrods use a straight axle similar to a 30's Ford.
Speedway Engineering has a straight axle kit for VW and Tinbeater builds beam extensions.
Add a trans raise in the rear, or drop the body down over the sides of the pan, chop the top, dutch the fenders and you're getting close! _________________ Mother Nature is a Mean Evil Bitch! |

beam extender $400, drop spindles $120, beam adjusters installed $150, 4 lowered shocks $150, irs rear $400, rod style wheels and tires $800.... did you say something about a budget? take off the front shocks $0, remove front leaves $0, drop the back 3 splines and take off the shocks $0, use old skinny vw wheels and tires $0.... somewhere in between ?? _________________ 63 15 window deluxe Turkis walk through 1500

You can pick up a beam extender from Dbug(on volksrods.com) for $275.00 +shipping. It will drop it 2 1/2 inches and move the front suspension out 8 or 10 inches your choice. If its IRS rear, you could flip the controll arms and drop it a couple of notches in the rear. If its a swingaxle you could drop it and add a trans raise to keep the rear wheels straight. Use the baja since the front/rear aprons are cut already.
