SEVWA's Big Bug Shootout #6
May 16, 2010
Held at Piedmont Dragway near Greensboro, NC
This event is in it's 6th year and we hope that you can come out and join us once again. We have changed the date to May to get this event out of the Summer HEAT! We hope that you and your family can enjoy the show better without the HEAT to deal with!
We are making it a VW weekend by teaming up with the folks at Monkey Nut VW Specialists in Charlotte, NC. They will be holding their annual Charlotte Transporter show on Sat May 15th and then cruising up to Piedmont that evening. Should be a great time, so be sure to check out the information on their show at http://piedmonttransporterowners.org/home.html

Are you expecting a better drag turnout than you had at Farmington? |

The drag turnout was down by about 10 from last year at the Farm.
We usually average around 50, but sometimes can get over that amount, which is always good.
We can never predict the amount of racers that show up at any of our events. Just hope that the guys can get their cars together and work or family allows them the time to come out and race. _________________ Kathy Jacobs

Checking in with the track to see if there is any specific one that they use and will post as soon as we know.
Otherwise, go to the travel sites and put in Burlington, NC. That would be the closest area for hotels.
Track address is
6750 Holts Store Rd

i have had some calls about new cars coming out,to race. there is always room for more if you are building a new car and are not ready. bring it even if its to show. we also have had some calls about swap meeting. we have a good turn out for that but i have room for alot more. please remember we have a lot more room at this track than we do at farmington. as it stands right now we dont even use the other side of the track yett,,,,,, |

Kathy is there reasons the delayed start of the drags or qualifying runs. It seems the last few events Ive been to, drags always were starting late or afternoon. _________________ aka Ken {o\!/o}

Depending on the track we go to, there are always a specific time we can start, since it is on a Sunday.
All the tracks in NC are 12:00. They can't go down the track until that time.
Is this what you are referring to? _________________ Kathy Jacobs

Yep thats it. I never realized there was an actual law or general rule in N.C.. I guess the Ole North State has changed a lot since I was younger. I remember drags and qualifying starting early in the morning, but that was back when it was a 2 day event in the 80's. I suppose the rule is understandable to someone. _________________ aka Ken {o\!/o}

also, since it is on a Sunday it matters.
If we were to have it on a Saturday, then we could start earlier. It isn't just NC, it is at all other tracks as well.
They have a curfew of when they can start and stop making loud noises. :>)
Just about a week away!
If you guys can, please send an email to [email protected] with your show car information so we can get a little head start on show day. Remember, it is just $10 to pre-register via email/phone $15 day of show. You don't have to pay now, you can wait until day of show. This just makes it easier and faster when you come to the registration table.
Swap meet/vendors: Gates open at 7:30
gates open at 8am for spectators
spectator fee $15 (12 & under free)
Time Runs start at 12
Show car reg ends at 12 with judging starting at 12:30
In need of Volunteers for judging, just PM me if you are interested. _________________ Kathy Jacobs
