Pre 1971 Beetle seats work great with the Thing seat bottoms. Even the latch mechanisms work great! A couple of nuts and the job is done...simple!

I did the same thing, but I recovered the seat backs first. Replaced foam. Way better support, way better rear end collision neck support. My standard seat backs sucked, and they were professionally re-upholstered. Never go back. John S

Curt, I told ya that it might work! Put some seat covers on it and it'll look mint. I think the thing shop video that comes with your soft top has a clip where they how you how to do it.

It's even easier just to use 71-72 Beetle seats and keep your Thing seats for later use or even sell them to someone who needs a set.

No - not really easier to find 71-72 seats up here in New England. I've been searching every craigslist, ebay, samba, etc...NOTHING..for about 8 months...

If there are seats available anywhere else in the country it's about 150 to ship.

I can just store the old seats to sell with the car someday.

And Yarkle - yup - you were right! Hope the rollbar is working out ok for you!
