I know there are several posts in this forum as well as beetle.
my original emissions set up has been pulled and I have read several posts where folks speak of running vent line in trunk up high and then loop down under car.
curious of thoughts if run vent line up high in trunk, then attach to charcoal cannister in trunk inplace of expansion cannister and then vent down under car.
goping with thought process to use charcoal to assist fume capture.
any thoughts out there?
thanks in advance |

The charcoal would probably quickly saturate. In the stock system, the charcoal simply holds the fumes when the engine is off, then when the engine is running air is blown through it then back into the carbs to dry it back out (or something).
Think of it like a holding tank for the fumes. _________________ VW-181 shirts and stickers.

Thanks Ian
now that I think about it that way makes more sense.
concerned for odor issue in garage. I do not mind but the Mrs. will object. prepping for when motor does arrive.
once had a 1979 bowrider with a 120 Mercruiser stored in my garage. excellent simple engine. yes, the garage smelled of engine fumes. |
