Yes
But don't. There are stereos out there that will fit, and provide modern benefits. _________________ "Consistent maintenance with quality products is the cheapest warranty you'll ever need."

A Din 1 will slide in with very little trimming, even for the "oh god leave it stock" crowd a Din 1 trimming will not hinder an old AM/FM being put back in someday and the face plate will cover the trimming.
The trimming is easy with a hand file. |

The amount of trimming necessary is so minimal, you'll never notice. Go for it, and spare the reach to the glove box every time you want to change station. _________________ Eric

I put in a classic Pioneer and only had to trim about 1/16" off the bottom of the opening. You really can't tell. Peace! _________________

You can use an online conversion tool just as easily as we can. Look it up. _________________ Eric

Do it. Good music's worth it. I'm kind of a stock guy but let's join the modern age already. _________________ '71 Westy |

Note that you may not need to trim anything, you may be able to just bend the lower metal inward out of the way slightly. That's what I did many years ago. |

Google can be a quicker source than Samba if you put forth the effort. |
I've done it, I was not sure if it was "inch" units |

Very good point. That's how I would do it if I had an unmolested dash. _________________ '71 Westy |

Do you think I can "win" 5 mm if I bend the metal? |

yes and no. you can bend, but the corners might need a little cut to allow the bending to be uniform from right to left, otherwise you'll just bend it down in the center/middle and the edges won't bend as far down. a little cut will make it roll down a bit smoother.
id try just bending first, but you might have a nicer clean bend with a tiny cut in the corner. |
