I'm having a heck of a time finding information on putting in rear bags on my 69 square. I am not seasoned in forums and am just looking for pointers on where or how best to search this. Any info would be much obliged. My car, Frida, is currently in pieces and want to put her back together right. |

I am also one of the folks that has bagged a sqaureback. the rear is much easier to do that the front with a stock t3 beam.
On the IRS rear you need to build upper an lower platforms that mount a dual convoluted bag, run lines and either have shraeder valves or a compressor on board.

IRS and swing set up are very similar. The DDB system was not welded on, it was all bolt on parts. They replaced the rear shocks and I removed the rear torsion bars. I think I still have an IRS part somewhere. If I can find it, I'll post up a pic. _________________ 64 No'back Speedster "Pearl"

So it looks like installing a cross support is the way to go. Wish I could lift on and off the body easily so I could see what gets in the way hahaha. I certainly appreciate it |

There was no extra bar welded onto the set up I had. Nor for the IRS version of it. Everything on the rear was bolt on. _________________ 64 No'back Speedster "Pearl"

Do you have a link to this? I've never seen anything "bolt on" for a bag setup for a type3. I'm curious on how easy & safe it would be. I've had several bolt on airside stuff for my S10 and full-size trucks, but not VW. _________________ 1971 Squareback, fully bagged, 1776.

Any info/ photos I'd be very appreciative of. This is my first for a vw with torsion and I want to make sure I do it sound and have the clearance |

Patrick Colvard is still building VW cars/beams etc at SOA Speed Shop in MO.
He also built a notchback on air ride.
You'd be wise to ship your car to him or pay him to build the components & ship them to you!
He built an extended front end for Sharkskinman & shipped it to him in NOLA.
