there are small seals that go around the fuel injectors. _________________ George Carlin:

Valve Stem Seals, like for the valves in the head? None were ever used on VW AC engines, but Chevy used them. Check you local auto machine shop, even NAPA should have them.

Yes busman the the valves in the head. they were on there when i pulled the valve springs and removed the valves so i assumed they were supposed to ge there. Would you suggest not running them then? I apologize if i am asking goofy questions but i dont recall this being addresseed in the manual.

VW never really used them although some type 1 kits included them at one time. There are two styles - one was a rubber o-ring that went around the valves and the other style requires that the guide be lathed for them, and they pressed on. I would just toss them. _________________ George Carlin:

Yep, you don't need 'em. They'll only get hard and break and end up in your oil screen anyway. _________________ Joey

The ( Stem seal ring ) is not installed on 1973 and later models. The seal rings can be service-removed from 1972 dual carburetor engines. Bentley-Engine and Clutch, page 36 Fig. 11-1
