i have a 69 bus it has recently had a new engine and carb 34 pict 3 on it i replaced the points, coil and condensor and static timed it per the idiots guide (still waiting for timing light) the bus ran fine although it was idleing at 1300 rpm tried to set the idle using the bentley manual now the bus will not idle and barely starts, i have to put the acc pedal almost to the floor does anyone have any idea where ive gone wrong and how i would go about fixing it.

How much did you turn the adjustment screws? _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

How loose are your throttle shaft bushing? If they are sloppy you will have a vacuum leak that will make the engine run lean if everything is set to standard parameters. You may have other vacuum leaks as well, remove and suck on every hose that plugs into the carburetor and/or manifold. What manifold are your running, does it use boots? They could be bad as well.
If the carb was set up to run with a DVDA distributor and you are running it with a SVDA distributor, this will cause problems as well. Keith recommends installing a pop rivet in the bleed hole in the throttle plate to correct for this. |

check your point gap again. Check the timing again. Once you get it running turn the distributor one way then the other to see is that improves it. Do not drive this bus until you get a timing light. _________________
