so early oval door panels would fit a split door? if your looking at an early door that has a one piece split glass in it, How can you tell if it is a split door and NOT an early oval door that has been reworked to fit a split regulator and glass. Do you need to pull the door panel off to really know?

Hold up.

Oval door the window regulator is in a different spot, not buy much but it is different if I remember correct so no your door panels are going to be different on split vs early oval.

The second thing you need to look at Steven is that you can EASILY tell a split door from a Oval door, check out an Oval door where the vent wing is if your looking down the window channel there is a little bump inward to where it would meet up to the vent wing, a split window door the window channel is the same size all the way down there is not a little lip or a little bump on there.

ok, i've done some searches and this looks like the best post.

i might be a bit confused. One says yes, one says no. which is it. i have a set of '54 door going on my '52 (until I find split doors)

are the door panels interchangable? will split door panels fit on the '54 doors?

when you say hte window reg. is slightly different how much are we talking?

Yustrn is correct, exactly what he says in addition the door check strap is a slot on an split door and a hole on an oval door. If I recall correctly the bottom bracket built into the door for a split window door regulator is different or not present on an oval door, but I am old and its been a long time since I owned a split.

I have a split door here currently if you need better pics or measurements etc.

Might be willing to drop the price a little too if you want the door.

Nothing like cranking up a panel discussion to get a handle on things, this looks like an open and shut case....no split decision.

Yes they are. The window crank is in the same position, but the door handle is a half-inch higher on the split door.

So, this door I bought have the "pin style" door stop, not the flat one... still it is "one piece" windows... What year? My early 51 had the flat door stops...

The flat style was often replaced with a round pin because the flat one broke off, your door looks to bee a -50-52 door.

At first glance I thought that door had a vent window!

It looked original, but i did not think much about it - just noted that it was not the same as the og-door. I'll post a pic of it next time I'm there...

Looks to be the older-style door, with the higher door handle.

You were correct Bengt, the round pin was retrofitted.

I'm angry at myself of just cutting the 2 perfectly good flat door stops when getting my splitted split car...

But perhaps one can make such a flat stop? I don't have any of the pieces left... Sad All fell apart... Pics?

Thanks!

probably are those, but as I cut them I don't know how they should look...

I'm searching for the split 50/51 door check straps...

If you could make me a "drawing" I would be very happy! Smile I.e. with, length and thickness...

If I have luck, some of the parts are still left inside the doors, but as there are no bottom part of the door the chanses are slim... If I remember there were some squary piece somewhere too...

thanks for the offer, but since I have soo little time right now, I cannot say when I get the time to do it...

if some of the parts are attached to door and/or body, those parts will likely still be attached at the leftovers...
