They are both held on with a screw.
On the door handle, pull the handle back, take a small flat blade screw driver and pry out the black plastic insert. You will find a small phillips head screw holding the chrome part on the door.
I don't know what window handles you ahve but most have a screw through the center of the piece that attaches to the regulator. There might be a plastic cover over it also.
Can you post a pic of what you currently have? _________________ 69 Beetle

Pry the cover off of your window crank (if it black plastic it should be either a thin plastic cover that comes off or a plug in the middle of the center pivot of the crank). There is small screw (4 or 5 mm) that is removed. On the inside door handle there is another small screw behind the cover that can be pried off. After removing this hardware the door panel can be carefully pried away from the door using a wide blade type of tool. A dull metal scraper usually works well. When all of the clips are free from the door lift up the panel to release it from a tab that holds the center of the panel to the door. Save all of the clips and boots. When you reattach the panel make sure to lube the regulators, and reattach, or make some type of plastic that will protect the inside of the panel. _________________ OK Thang |

Thats not a stock crank for a 68-??? bug. Thats aftermarket or from another year/car. Give us the year and model to help out. _________________ Fatchicks: Daily drivers, donor cars, collectibles. What can't they do? |

That style of handle was on 67 and earlier cars. That is why a previous poster ask if you were in the right place. Regardless. Those handles are held on by a small pin. Push in on the panel and look around and you should see a hole where the pin locks it to the window regulator. You will need a punch to tap it out. I believe the hole is tapered so unless it is buggered up it is One way only. Many times the pins get lost when they are tapped out so watch where it lands. People replace the pin with all kinds of stuff. Cut off nails, small pierces of coat hanger etc. If that is on a 68 and newer car no telling what you will find.
The other possibility is that someone just hammerd it on a late model regulator and it is just jammed. |
