Has anybody ever attempted to repair a Westy water tank?

I've got a tank from a 78 with a small crack in the bung that the pump threads into. I've got the tank of of the cabinet and rather than replacing it I was wondering if anybody else had an experience repair one? Or any experience repairing this type of plastic?

I bought another tank to replace it with a few months ago... but the bungs on the one are in the front of the tank rather than the back. Then I bought another complete interior from a guy and just got done pulling the tank from that one... it had some duct tape on it so I wasn't too sure about it. Well, evidently some genius cut the top off of it to clean and and duct taped it back together... so essentially I have three tanks and none of them perfect.

The tank in my 76 Westy had the same crack in the threaded bung. I cleaned the threads well and used some of that marine play-doh style epoxy to seal off the hole. In order to smash the epoxy into the threads well, I stuck a 1" dowel rod with tape over the end in through the top filler opening, and when the epoxy dried, I had a nice clean seal. Then I plumbed out of the remaining bung for the pump and the drain hose using hose barbs and a tee fitting. Works great, and after I looked around for new tanks that would fit, it was by far the cheapest way to get water again.

The 2 part epoxy for plastics works awesome on the type plastic those tanks are made of. I made numerous repairs on mine including some long cracks. Coated a large area around where the cracks were. It's held up great.

Mister Sticky - Buddy is a plumber, that stuff is awesome.

Its not cheap but hadles anything, if you can dremmel out any unneccesary areas around the crack to fill, it will make the fix stronger...
