Haven't had time to address the issue. What happens in the steering wheel? maybe that's my problem. I should check that first. _________________ I'd be UNSTOPPABLE if not for Law Enforcement and PHYSICS.

The high beam lever in the steering column is simply a pair of contacts that close when you pull the lever. That supplies power to the relay to cause the elctromagnet to pull.
When theelectromagnet pulls it slides against a tiny pivoting cam inside the relay with a contact on each side of it.. Pull the lever once....the relay clicks...the contacts move to the right. Pull it again...they move to the left.
One is high beams...one is low beams. Turn the ignition on (engine off). Turn on your headlights. Put your ear down near the fuse block. Pull the high beam lever. If you are not hearing the click of the relay, either the contacts in the lever assembly are dirty (possible) or broken (possible) or the plug is pulled loose a bit (possible). Or......the relay has a bad connection to the lever....or the relay has a bad electromagnet.
But...if you hear the click and the high beams are not turning on......check this:
Is it that the inner high beam headlights are not coming on? Meaning do the outer low beam dual filament bulbs switch to the other filament but the inner pair of lamps simply don't come on? If so...check the grounds along the inside of the nose of the trunk. There should either be a ground point under the left headlight inside the trunk...or under both in the trunk.
If you hear the relay click but neither the outer or inner lamps change over, it could be a dirty or corroded contact inside the relay or a dirty or corroded wire connecting to that side of the rleay. If you have any minor water leaks in your car...its common that the headlight relay gets wet inside.
Carefully remove the metal cover and clean it. Ray |

Took me a while to find a way to remove the fuse box, but It came off. Replaced the headlight relay/dimmer with one purchased at OCTO for $1. Now I have high and low beams again. While I was at it, I double checked all connections. Thanks for the info. _________________ I'd be UNSTOPPABLE if not for Law Enforcement and PHYSICS.
