Hi,
I have difficulty to find some rims for my 1973 Safari. The one I have are pretty messed up. Im looking for old one because Im one a budget. Not specialy Safari rims but rims that will fit.
I have a question too, since my rims are pretty messed up, is it possible to repair them? The rims are loosing air, that is the problem.
Thanks in advance guyyyys!
IM reallly sorry I didnt see the sticky. Sorry guys |

The nice thing about steel rims like those on the Safari is that they can be easily repaired. There are wheel specialty shops that only fix wheels, but you can take them to any body shop they will be able to weld up any cracks and straighten the rims. They probably won't be perfect, but they'll get you where you want to go. |

to re-attach the clips and rivets. Makes easy work out of it. Put this in a bench vise and hammer the back until flat. I just did this recently with a new set of old wheels. Wolfsburg West also sells the hub cap clips.

That could solve the problem, yes : add inner tubes in his tires. But I wouldn't recommend this. Tire shops strongly recommend to avoid putting tubes if you have tubeless tires. This could cause the tire to blow...
Best solution is to have your wheels repaired, like Captain Spalding mentioned. Labor is cheap in Mexico, so it should be doable.
Another option is to use 1964-1970 bus wheels, as they are very similar to Safari wheels. Different offset, but same size (5x14") and same bolt pattern (5x205 wide five lug), so it would work fine. If you do, don't mix up bus and Safari wheels on the same axle. Put all 4 bus wheels, or 2 bus wheels up front and 2 Safari on the rear,etc...
Hope this helps and you can solve your problem. _________________ 1976 181/Thing, 1967 fastback, 1973 squareback, 1964 microbus, 1967 Double Cab, 1969 westfalia (currently under resto), 1972 LM1C dune buggy, 1974 jean's bug, 1974 1303 (super beetle, currently under reassembly after new paint). |

That "local pickup only" (in Fresno) requirement isn't going to help a guy in Chihuahua Mexico. |

Wats up guys,
So I finaly repaired my rims, some people did the job at bodyshop. They did a good job actually. I removed the dust on 1 rims yesterday, it was hard. We putted diesel to melt the dust. They were painting on the dust can you imagine. Anyway, I clean one and sandpaper it. Here some picture.
