Not sure what you call them, but I like my name better Very Happy I want to restore mine and want to know what you did with this issue. I have watched most of the Utube videos but they are all concerned with the covering or foam.

You could cut them off, drill a 1/4 " hole and push a Christmas tree clip through for the same type of attachment. They are available at napa, and used to hold up insulation under the hood generally

Here is my solution, first get your pliers and wiggle out the old ones. This leaves a hole in the underside of the dash pad.

Get some nylon 1/4"x20 bolts by 3/4" long, you need at least 8. Using your grinder grind the hex shaped heads of the bolt down to l face and round the top of the head of to look like a J-bolt

Mix up some epoxy and coat the hooked end of the bolt and set it in the hole of the dashpad and align vertically. Mix up another batch of epoxy and flow it into the hole for strength.

When the epoxy sets up, get out your tap and clean the bolts of and test fit your nylon nuts to the freshly cleaned nylon bolts. Now you can put your pad back in and snug it down.

The dashpad should be installed prior to the glove box or wiper assembly for ease of installation. It fits much better now but the damn holes in the dash that look like vent hole still pear out. What is the reason behind all those vent holes in the dash that are covered by the pad?

There's got to be somebody that sells these as a reproduction.

Actually, I just found out from KGPR that they don't have a source for those. They recommended checking the Samba classifieds.

On a better note, the repro dash pads come with threaded studs attached ready to install.

I searched, Fastenall and the Somer & Maca catalog and found nothing. The workaround only took about an hour after spending over 4 hours in search of part. Laughing Works great as well.

I wonder about finding a good original one and creating a mold and making them out of resin. Could be an idea. I've copied Revell model parts with resin molds and they come out nice.
