This all started here, with hopes of setting up

This thread was helpful.

I had assumed two things:

1) Cigarette Lighter was Aux Battery
2) Passenger floor lighter was Main battery

Answers:

False
False

It appears in the (my?) weekender the batteries are set up in parallel, I have just learned this. This means that I have been draining the batteries when running my lights and cig. lighter chargers.

I was hoping to rig my stereo to my aux battery but now realize its going to be a bit more difficult than I expected.

I guess the main questions I have are (I have little electrical knowledge, which makes things tough):

Will the battery charge move only 1 direction. If I hook up my stereo to the aux battery, will it kill the main batter if I listen too long in a parallel battery situation??

Where do you begin getting the lights hooked to the Aux battery, is this worth it to not kill the main?

Does anyone in the SF Bay Area want to help me futz with electrical and things? I could use some help learning more about this stuff and other van issues, which I would love to do.
